Two English mountaineers – the head of human resources at the Palace for Life charity and a director at south London football club Crystal Palace – have been missing since January 1. Now one of the two men has been found dead.
The body of an English mountaineer wanted since January 1 was found on Wednesday in the Adamello massif in Trentino, northern Italy. The dead man was discovered under the snow at an altitude of 2,600 meters. The Trentino Alpine Rescue Service said the search for a second missing English alpinist continues to be carried out using helicopters and drones. Sniffer dogs took part in the search.
The 35 and 36-year-old alpinists from London gave their last sign of life on January 1. They had disappeared since then. After the two failed to catch their return flight, scheduled for January 6, the family of one of the holidaymakers raised the alarm with the authorities in Trentino. Their cell phones were turned off.
Backpacks discovered in bivouac
The two mountaineers’ backpacks were found in a bivouac that had been converted into a base camp. The alpinists are head of human resources at the Palace for Life charity foundation and a director at south London football club Crystal Palace, whose manager is Austrian Oliver Glasner.
