The remnants of an overnight cold front will move quickly east on Friday, but the last snow showers may still fall in the first few hours. After the disruption passes, we can expect widespread sunny and dry weather. But in the afternoon the first clouds of the next disturbance will move into the country from the west. Snowfall can be expected in Tyrol and Vorarlberg in the evening. Daily maximum temperatures can reach 6 degrees.
Sun in the south and west
Dense cloud will remain both north of the main Alpine ridge and in the north and east until the evening on Saturday. Short snow showers can also be expected on the northern edge of the Alps between Salzburg and the Mostviertel. However, in the west and south of Austria the weather is sunny and dry all day long. Early temperatures range from minus nine to zero degrees. During the day, a maximum of five degrees is possible.
Austria is on the edge of a high-pressure area on Sunday, so the day will be mainly dry and very sunny in some parts of the country. Only on the north side of the Alps are there deeper clouds at night that provide muted sunshine. In the morning we can expect temperatures below minus 15 degrees in the snow-covered Alpine valleys! The maximum daily temperatures are between minus four and plus three degrees.
Still freezing in the morning
There are also icy early temperatures at the beginning of the week: Monday it will be brightly sunny all day in the west and south, but in the morning hours we can expect minus 15 to minus one degree again.
Warm front moves over land
During the course of Tuesday, compact, high-altitude cloud fields from an approaching warm front will gradually move over the country. In the south it is usually still very sunny, but in the north the sun becomes noticeably weak from noon. However, it remains largely dry. Early temperatures range from minus 14 degrees in the inner Alpine region and minus three degrees in the eastern lowlands, daily maximum temperatures range from minus two to plus six degrees.
