The former president of Uruguay has asked to be left alone and will therefore no longer give interviews and assures that he will not undergo any further treatment, “because my body cannot cope.”
The former president of Uruguay Jose Mujica (also known as Pepe Mujica) reported in an interview with the local weekly magazine “Búsqueda” that the cancer discovered in his esophagus has spread to the liverso he claims he is “dying”.
“The cancer in the esophagus is colonizing my liver. I can’t stop it with anything. Why? Because I’m an old man and because I two chronic diseases. Neither biochemical treatment nor surgery is suitable for me, because my body can’t handle ithe said.
He has announced that he will not give any more interviews and assures that he will not undergo any new treatment: “What I ask is that you leave me alone. That you don’t bother me with random interviews or anything else. My cycle ended a while ago. Frankly, I am dying and the warrior has the right to rest.”
On the other hand, Mujica took the opportunity to say goodbye to his ‘colleagues’ and his ‘countrymen’.
On April 29 this year, Mujica announced during a press conference that he had done so a tumor in the esophagus: “I have to inform you that last Friday I went to the Casmu (medical center) for a check-up where it was discovered that I have a tumor in the esophagus, which is obviously very serious and is doubly complex in my case, because I suffer have from a immunological disease more than 20 years ago“.
Shortly afterwards he pointed out that the tumor was malignant and had to be treated with radiotherapy, a procedure performed in Montevideo.
On December 27, the former president underwent surgery in which a stent in the esophagus.
