German police arrested an Indian citizen in Lindau, near the border with Vorarlberg, who had packed more than a kilo of poppy seed capsules in his luggage. Such a find is considered quite unusual, even among police officers.
Police officers made an unusual discovery on Wednesday at the train station of the island of Lindau in Germany, right on the border with Vorarlberg: during a check, federal police officers noticed a man. It turned out that the Indian national could not provide any valid documents.
However, he claimed that he had been in Germany for a long time. The man was eventually transferred to the Lindau border police station for further investigation. There, the officers searched the bags the man had with him. The police did not find any personal documents, but they did make another discovery: in one of the bags the man had stored a total of 1.3 kilograms of dried poppy seed capsules.
Rare find
Finding these capsules is considered rare, even among police officers. Possession of dried poppies is illegal and falls under the German Narcotics Act. The suspect should therefore expect that he will be charged with both the poppy and violations of the right of residence.
