Brutal scam – bridal model suddenly married after shooting

Date:

What started as innocent fun on social media ended in a legally binding marriage for a woman in Australia – and an incredible scam!

What started as an innocent fun video for social media turned out to be a bitter reality for an Australian woman: her supposedly staged wedding party was reality. The ‘groom’, an ambitious influencer, is said to have planned the ceremony only to increase his reach with photos and videos. But behind the alleged prank was a much more insidious plan: a residence permit.

The couple met on a dating platform in September 2023. Meetings in Melbourne soon followed and in December the influencer made an apparently romantic marriage proposal to his new girlfriend. Two days later he invited her to a ‘White Party’ in Sydney, where all guests had to wear white. However, when the woman arrived, she was only in white – and suddenly the leading actress in a so-called wedding video.

“He told me it was just for Instagram,” the woman said later in court. Believing it was all just a joke, she said her wedding vows, kissed him and posed for the camera. But the truth came to light two months later when the man demanded that she list him as her husband on her visa application. The woman found out that the wedding was real: he had even forged her signature beforehand.

The woman has now been able to prove to the judge that she never consciously consented. Her religious family, who would certainly have been invited to a real wedding, was completely excluded – conclusive evidence of the deception. She also discovered forged signatures and documents that the man had already submitted before the ‘application’. The judge has annulled the marriage!
