The workers are demanding the involvement of social and political agents to secure the future of the Alsasua factory, which is undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, and have called a demonstration for January 19.
The Sunsundegui Works Council has urged all parties involved to work together to ensure the future and employment at the Alsasua factory. The committee is of the opinion that you are a ‘company with a product and a market’.
The company, which has been bankrupt since November and under bankruptcy protection since December, faces decisive weeks to determine its viability.
The staff is currently affected by an ERTE that will be extended for another three months after January 19. According to the committee, it is crucial that the planned buses are produced in Alsasua and work is guaranteed in the long term. To do this, they emphasize the need for an investor with a solid industrial plan and the support of the public sector.
The workers called demonstration in Alsasua on January 19 afternoon, seeking support from Sakana residents, institutions and social actors. “The efforts made must translate into employment and a future for everyone,” they conclude.
