The Gipuzkoa Treasury has warned against fraud via the text messaging service that “simulates the payment of the income tax return”.
In a statement, Gipuzkoan’s treasury stressed that “several citizens of Gipuzkoa have been reported to have received messages like this on their cell phones in recent days.”
As he noted, the sender of the message “impersonates the IRS and adds a link claiming to make the payment of the income tax return.”
The Gipuzkoa Provincial Treasury has taken the necessary steps to prosecute this fraud attempt, recalling that “the best measure is to prevent users from receiving suspicious messages containing the request for personal data”.
The foral agency does not request any confidential information, or account numbers, or tax card numbers, by text message, she notes.
