After the “No” vote in Carinthia, the Styrian government remains dependent on wind energy

Date:

In Sunday’s referendum, Carinthians narrowly voted against further expansion of wind energy. A different wind is blowing in Styria: the blue-black government supports the green form of energy, which business representatives are also happy with. 580 million euros must be invested in projects.

No other energy source polarizes Austria as much as wind energy. This became clear again on Sunday during the referendum on a ban on new wind turbines in Carinthia. As reported, a small majority of 51.5 percent of our southern neighbors spoke out against the expansion of wind energy. The result is not legally binding, but it is a barometer for politicians. The driving force behind the investigation was the FPÖ and parts of Team Carinthia.
