The party headquarters of the Tyrolean Freedom Party was again the target of unknown vandals on Wednesday evening. The assailants distributed red-colored tampons at the entrance, after which the door and walls were daubed with paint using a converted fire extinguisher. The act was caught by surveillance cameras – the police are investigating.
The FP party headquarters on Leopoldstrasse in Innsbruck has been repeatedly targeted by vandals in the past. According to their own statements, Wednesday night’s coup was the 14th (!) attack on the party in just three and a half years. General secretary of the state party Patrick Haslwanter speaks of “left-extremist attacks” and that finally “sharp action must be taken against organized left-wing extremism in Innsbruck”.
Color attack shortly before midnight
“Until the security camera was hit by the beam of paint, we can trace the crime exactly. At 11:47 pm, the event was captured by the camera. Three perpetrators can be identified, one of whom appears to be a woman. Since here paint has been used, the damage is enormous,” continues Haslwanter.
“Actions against FPÖ before the elections”
This act of vandalism should be understood “as a prelude to actions against the FPÖ in connection with the upcoming state elections”. In addition, there had already been an attempted burglary at the Burgerservice. Wheel nuts were also loosened by an employee of the state party.
There is no trace of the nighttime vandals. They had fled unnoticed. Police have launched an investigation, it said at Krone’s request.
