Last Thursday, in the Flachgau region of Salzburg, a tanker driver accidentally filled thousands of liters of fuel into the tank of a gas station. According to media reports, several customers refueled with diesel instead of petrol. In the case of a female driver, the car started jerking after a few hundred meters and the engine eventually stalled. The woman was able to start her car again and drive home, but the next day nothing worked.
A roadside assistance from the ÖAMTC could not find a defect. However, the man smelled the tank and said it probably had diesel in it. The fuel bill, however, was premium gasoline. The suspicion of the breakdown assistance was later confirmed in the workshop, who immediately notified the gas station. But they were already aware of the mix-up there.
The gas station operator regretted the incident to the APA. “An employee filled one of the chambers of a tank trailer incorrectly and only noticed this on delivery. That can happen – just like a butcher can injure himself with a knife.” Of course you pay for the damage caused, but in general the damage is small. “There are three victims, two motorcycles and a car.” The gas station’s tank had to be pumped out and cleaned.
