“The quad crashed about 200 meters deep,” said Werner Quehenberger, district manager of the mountain rescue, describing the incident on Thursday in Annaberg. The two hunters managed to escape from the vehicle with a courageous jump, although one was even left unharmed.
For unknown reasons, the two hunters drove their quad from the unfinished forest road from Lungötz (Neubachtal) towards Reiterhöhe (Gerzkopf) on Thursday afternoon.
“Good luck in the face of adversity”
“They managed to jump off during the crash. Yet they also fell about 80 meters. But they were extremely lucky in the face of adversity,” says Werner Quehenberger of the mountain rescue team. One of the two was completely unharmed and the second suffered a leg injury.
“We went to the victims and provided first aid. However, the Martin 1 rescue helicopter team, which was notified, rescued the injured man.” Ten mountain rescuers from Annaberg accompanied the hunter, who was unharmed, into the valley.
