A man was seriously injured in a knife attack in the center of the Israeli coastal metropolis of Tel Aviv. The police are calling it a terrorist attack.
The victim was taken to a hospital, a spokeswoman for the treating clinic said. He suffered a stab wound to the upper body but was responsive, Magen David Adom emergency services said. According to Israeli media, the suspected attacker was shot by a passerby.
So it was a 19-year-old Palestinian from the city of Tulkarem in the West Bank. A large number of emergency services were on site and also searched the area by helicopter, police said. News agency AFP had earlier reported a shooting incident in which several people were injured, citing police.
The incident took place a day before a ceasefire was due to come into effect in the 15-month war between Israel and the radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas.
