A Swiss chocolate manufacturer tested drinking cocoa in 300 ski resorts in Europe. Other Tyrolean areas can also be found at the front. The bottom of the table brings surprises.
It should taste sweet and chocolatey. For many, it is perfect for a warm-up break in the ski hut or after winter sports: hot chocolate. Swiss chocolate manufacturer Lindt has subjected 300 ski areas in Europe to a drinking cocoa test. The criteria were quality, price and availability. However, the results were somewhat surprising for the Austrian ski areas.
Bad Gastein stays behind, Belgians stay behind
The best hot chocolate in Austria can be found in Alpbach. The Tauplitz and Mayrhofen landed behind them. At the bottom of the Austrian rankings: Bad Gastein. The Pongau community is also at the bottom of the European rankings. Only three regions score worse in the cocoa index, including a ski resort in Belgium.
Skiers in our latitudes also have to dig much deeper into their wallets than elsewhere. On average you have to pay 7.95 euros for a cup of hot chocolate. The chamois town of Kitzbühel, the Stubai Valley and Lech (8.50 euros each) are at the top in this rating.
Price often determines taste
The relatively high price is reflected in the quality in some places. In the taste assessment, the ski areas received seven out of ten points. There is another plus: in our ski resorts it is easier to find hot chocolate than in the tested places in France.
