The chaos continues – London Airport cancels more than 30 flights in the morning

Date:

The situation at airports and airlines continues to deteriorate. Especially in London, where more flights from Heathrow Airport had to be canceled on Thursday morning. The reason: the airport has more passengers than its capacity allows. At least 30 flights were canceled or rescheduled that morning. Hundreds of travelers may be affected.

As early as Wednesday evening, airport bosses ordered 20 of the largest airlines to move 30 flights on Thursday morning. They had realized that the terminals could not handle the large number of passengers. According to “Mirror”, 5,000 travelers are believed to have been affected on Thursday morning.

“We will work with the airlines to rebook affected passengers at other off-peak times to allow as much departure as possible,” said a Heathrow spokeswoman.

Travelers express their anger
Passengers about to be taken off their flights took to social media to express their anger: “Total chaos at Heathrow,” one tweeted, “BA flights canceled and no customer service!”

Countless airports and airlines have been sinking into chaos for weeks: lack of staff on board, bottlenecks on the ground and handling problems. The situation is extremely tense worldwide. Travelers from Austria are also affected by the whirlpool.

Numerous flight cancellations worldwide
In addition to Eurowings, Easyjet and Co. AUA has now had to cancel several flights to and from Vienna due to short-term corona illnesses.

But the travel situation in the US is also not looking good: due to bad weather, staff shortages and infrastructure problems, the major airlines are currently unable to handle the volume of travel. As CNN reports, thousands of flights have had to be canceled in the past. The aviation industry in Canada is also struggling with personnel shortages. Air Canada announced “major cancellations” in its summer schedule on Wednesday.

It seems uncertain how the situation will continue in the high season.
