The Euskadi stand will be an innovative space of 900 square meters, designed as a large txalaparta that combines tradition and modernity.
Last Monday, the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs of the Basque Government presented its proposal for the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2025, to be held in Madrid from January 22 to 26.
Euskadi will be present with one innovative stand of 900 square metersdesigned to combine tradition and modernity, and aimed at highlighting its commitment to sustainability and the work of professionals in the sector.
During the press conference, the Minister of Tourism, Javier Hurtado, accompanied by Lander Imaz, Marketing Director of Basquetour, highlighted the consolidation of the tourism sector in Euskadi. This represents 6.6% of GDP and generates employment for more than 110,000 families.
“Tourism is a driving force for other sectors, such as transport, culture and trade. Its success is based on a sustainable model that prioritizes the balance between visitors, industry professionals and citizens,” said Hurtado.
In this edition of Fitur, Euskadi will present an awareness campaign promote coexistence between tourists and residentsin addition to consolidating the Euskadi Tourism Code of Ethicsto which more than 800 companies are already affiliated. This code includes training, evaluations and audits that reinforce the commitment to sustainability and quality, as emphasized by the director.
The stand design, inspired by a great txalapartawill have interactive screens that will advertise the Grand Tour Euskadi Basque Country, an eight-stage tour that highlights experiences in ecotourism, cycle tourism, industrial, family and gastronomic tourism. In addition, it aims to promote the seasonalization of tourists and the redistribution of visitors throughout the territory.
Hurtado has emphasized the importance of Fitur as an important platform for the tourism sector. More than 800 professional meetings were held during the last edition and they hope to exceed that number by 2025. The space will include an expanded meeting room and streaming broadcasts of more than 25 institutional and corporate presentations.
“Tourism in the Basque Country is much more than numbers; it is a tool to build a more cohesive and balanced society,” concluded the advisor, reaffirming the commitment to responsible tourism, which benefits citizens economically, culturally and socially.
