On Sunday afternoon, passengers in an overheated bus traveling from Croatia to Vienna had to wait more than 30 minutes with a faulty air conditioning system. The bus driver was asked several times during the trip to take a break. However in vain.
Despite the faulty air conditioning, the bus driver started the journey in the fully occupied bus. A reader-reporter from “Krone” described the heat as “unbearable”. Among the passengers was a group of seniors from a secondary school in Vienna-Alsergrund. Some students threatened to “collapse and hyperventilate”.
‘Threatened to open the emergency exit’
Some even “threatened to open the emergency exit while driving” because of the unbearable heat inside the bus. At the same time, some passengers began taking off their T-shirts and desperately pouring water from their drinking bottles over their heads. Some passengers also tried to reach the bus company with their smartphones, because they were stunned by the behavior of the bus driver. Without success.
First stop at border
It was only after 35 minutes that the bus driver told everyone that the air conditioning would now work again. About five minutes later, the long-awaited stop was made at the Slovenian border so that all passengers could disembark to cool off.
