As he waited in São Paulo to board the A350, the dramatic moment – just as Bernhard Warr had pointed his mobile phone into the plane to take a quick video. He led a unique photo when a bolt of lightning struck the British airway machine for a few seconds
Huge thunderstorms opened shortly before the start
“We had good weather all week with little rain. Just as we arrived at the airport, a huge thunderstorm was brought up,” he told the story-telling agency. All flights were moved by an hour. Warr sensed a nearby flash and a recording began. “I was lucky and the lightning happened right in front of me!” said the Brit.

He posted the clip online on X and asked what kind of controls would be there now. One answer came quickly from the Flightradar24 profile: “The technicians will examine the entry and exit points and the fuselage for damage. You also ensure that all systems are ready for use. ”After minor repairs, the plane finally took off several hours late.
Every year a flash meets a transport plane
Lightning strikes in aircraft are not uncommon: a strike happens on average at least once a year, as the “View from the Wing” platform reports. However, it had been more than 40 years since a crash was attributed to a lightning strike. Modern aircraft are well built, so the British Airways machine was able to land safely at its destination in London.
