Severe storms ravaged large parts of Tyrol on Thursday evening: heavy rain, hail, storms and mudslides caused numerous fire brigade actions and also some roadblocks. Fields were partly white as in winter.
Between 6 and 7 pm it poured like buckets in Zirl (Innsbruck-Land district). Sometimes there was also hail. There was a mudslide on the B171 Tiroler Straße between Zirl and the Eigenhofen district. The road had to be temporarily closed to all traffic. Fortunately no one was injured.
Schlossbach and Ehnbach swelled noticeably. In some cases there was also water damage in and to buildings in the area, such as in Inzing, as described by the Tyrol control center on the “Krone”.
Heavy hail in Leithen
Severe weather alert also in Leithen. The fire brigade was also on duty here. Because of heavy hail the fields here were white as in winter. There had also been a landslide in a field in Leithen.
The storm persisted – and sparked some operations in Innsbruck as well. “Among other things, due to fallen trees, lightning and security work,” the control room also reports.
Roadblock also in the Unterland
Another hotspot was the Unterland near St. Johann, Kirchdorf and Kössen. Due to a landslide the B176 Kössener Straße had to be closed. There was also some water damage.
