But more injuries – fewer road deaths in the streets of Austria 2024

By September, 281 people died in the streets of Austria in the previous year. This is a decline. At the same time, however, six percent more people were injured, a total of 36,000. The number of crashed children has also increased to the highest value of the past 15 years.

This was announced on Friday by the Austria statistics. In the first three quarters of the previous year, 2476 children under the age of 14 were injured in traffic accidents. Another four children were killed. The increase in injuries among those traveling by bike or e-scooter was particularly high. Only four of the ten wounded minors wore a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident.

Every tenth died in alcohol accident
28 people died between January and September 2024 in alcohol accidents. This is a share of ten percent of the raced -free. Twelve people themselves were drunk, the rest of the non -alcoholic steering wheel, passengers or pedestrians.

Most of them (73 percent) had an alcohol value of more than one per thousand, 14 percent even more than two. 85 percent of alcohol -used drivers involved in a traffic accident with injuries were men.

E-scooter driver on average 31 years
According to Statistics Austria, there was also a strong increase in the old E-scoot drivers in the first nine months of 2023. These victims were on average 31 years old and 70 percent male. Moreover, 16 percent were drunk at the time of the accident.
