On Friday evening around 7 p.m., a tragic traffic accident occurred in Mellau in Vorarlberg in the gravel parking lot of a ski hut. A young woman overlooked a one and a half year old toddler and hit her with a car.
The 24-year-old had already backed up her car when the toddler undetected approached the driver’s side of the vehicle. When the woman then wanted to drive away, she may have overlooked the one and a half year old child.
This was then hit by the car and at least one tire overturned. There must have been a lot of guardian angels in action though, as the toddler was conscious after the accident! However, it sustained head or forehead injuries and was flown by rescue helicopter to the state hospital in Feldkirch for further clarification.
Police are still investigating how this tragic accident could have happened.
