Another Carinthian died of a drug overdose. The 25-year-old is the eighth drug victim this year in Austria’s southernmost province.
The tenant of a residential building in Klagenfurt made a terrible discovery: as has only now become known, the woman had found the lifeless body of an initially unknown person on the roof of the seven-storey building last Sunday. She therefore alerted the emergency services. “Tattoos identified the dead man as a 25-year-old from Klagenfurt,” confirms an investigator at Krone’s request. The investigating officers could have obtained a syringe with medicine residue next to the body.
The prosecutor has ordered an autopsy. The doctors discovered that the young man may have overdosed on himself. The exact circumstances of the death are still part of the investigation, as is where the victim got the drugs from.
More drug deaths
At the beginning of June, a 28-year-old from Klagenfurt died of a mixture of various addictive substances. He was most recently in drug therapy. Shortly afterwards, another 40-year-old died of a drug mix in Klagenfurt. There have already been eight drug-related deaths in Carinthia this year. In the previous year, 14 Carinthians died from addictive substances across the country, the sad maximum recorded by the police in 2018 was 26 drug victims.
