War against civilians – Ukraine speaks of “terror” and wants military aid

Date:

Ukraine has strongly condemned a Russian rocket attack on a residential building in Ukraine’s southern Odessa region, which left at least 21 dead and 39 injured. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke of “deliberate, targeted Russian terror”. There were no weapons or military equipment hidden in the house – “as Russian propagandists and officials always tell about such attacks.”

The impact of the three missiles was not an accident. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba also accused Russia of a war against civilians. “I urge our partners to equip Ukraine with modern missile defense systems as soon as possible. Help us save lives and end this war,” Kuleba said on Twitter.

promised millions
The US government promised Ukraine further military aid for defense in the Russian war of aggression. The $820 million package will provide the country with additional ammunition for, among other things, the Himars missile launch system, two Nasams surface-to-air missile defense systems, artillery ammunition and anti-artillery radars, as the Pentagon has announced. Much of the new aid comes not from US stocks, but from an agreement with the industry. According to its own statements, the United States has promised or has already delivered weapons and equipment worth nearly $7 billion to Ukraine since the start of the war in late February.

At a meeting in Kiev, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre Selenskyj promised further aid of one billion euros, divided between 2022 and 2023. The money should flow to humanitarian aid, reconstruction and also weapons. This is intended to support the Ukrainians’ “struggle for freedom”, according to the Norwegian. Store had traveled directly from the NATO summit in Madrid to Ukraine.
