A 52-year-old woman was sentenced to a twelve-year prison sentence for genocide, crimes against humanity and serious war crimes in Sweden on Tuesday.
During the rule of the Terrorist militia Islamic State in Syria, the woman participated in atrocities against the Yazidi -lessness. The court ruled that the woman shared the ideological intention is to destroy a religious group.
Yazid -women kept as slaves
The convicted woman from the Swedish city of Halmstad participated in these actions in the Syrian city of Rakka in 2015. Three women and six children from North Iraq came to the accused after months of captivity and slavery by male is a member, whom they also caught for almost five months and treated them as slaves. The affected were forced to practice Muslims.
The “unbelievers” Yazidis
Some Yazidis consider themselves an ethnic Kurd, partly as a separate ethnic group. Jesident is a monotheistic, not based on a Holy Scripture, syncretistic religion. You see Islamists as “unbelievers”. But even under Ottoman rule, people were persecuted or tried to repent. Nowadays about a million Yazidis live worldwide, the majority of them are in North Iraq.
