A 20-year-old Hungary from Linz, who had a wild chase with the police in the night of January 31, is now being investigated for several attempts to murder. The fast journey, in which the passengers were threatened by 20 other vehicles, ended in Traun with a collision with five injuries.
The “Kroon” reported about the case: a civilian patrol had wanted to stop the driver on B1 (Wiener Strasse) in Wels-West because he had walked over a blocking line. However, the man did not stop, but climbed on the gas and fled. He ran through the foggy upper Austrian central area with speeds of up to 250 km/h, ignored red traffic lights, according to the police, completed “very dangerous catch -up processes”, partly over the breakdown strip, and eventually crashed into various standing cars in Traun Around 160 km/h.
Not only the driver and his passenger, but also two police officers and another road user were seriously injured.
The office of the public prosecutor assumes a conditional death resolution
Because of this “amoking” with countless catch -up maneuvers, which threatened various other road users, the office of the public prosecutor takes a conditional obligation. There were at least five concrete situations with 20 vehicles whose residents were at risk, said spokesperson for the public prosecutor Christoph Weber. These people must now be determined.
The accused himself admitted that he was afraid that serious or even fatal accidents could happen, Weber said. However, he had come because he feared that he would not get his driver’s license, which had already been taken from him, and that he might be removed from him for a long time. The vehicle is from the 20-year-old, but it was not approved and the license plates were stolen from his mother’s car.
Intiquation in custody
The public prosecutor submitted a vehicle report and the suspect’s mobile phone was also protected and a blood sample was analyzed. The 20-year-old has been in custody since 6 February, which lasts until 20 February. Then there must be another adhesion.
Incidentally, the man had also had a chase with the police when he was arrested, but on foot: when the officers were at the door with an arrest, he fled over the balcony, but was put a little later.
