The 58-year-old Sylvia Sperandio was the first woman to write the general history in the Austrian Bundesher. The “Krone” asked for an interview on the occasion of the World Women’s Day, spoke with her about the quota of the women in the army and whether it would be necessary for women.
“Krone”: They were one of the first women to take the step to the army. Why did you choose?
Sylvia Hope: It was in June 1998 when I moved to Mistelbach. The history is that I was the only citizen and woman who participated in a military emergency doctor. That was only for military doctors, they were all male at the time. When it was decided that women could become soldiers, I was called by colleagues: ‘What is now? That would be something for you. “Then I decided to do this and did the three -day entrance exam. Then it turned out that I might not be so unsuitable for an officer career. I thought:” Do something else, you can stop again. “But I just stayed.
