The weather invites you to go out into nature. On the via ferrata or for walking. On Sunday, rescue helicopters in Upper Austria had to disembark several times to provide assistance on the mountain.
The most dramatic accident happened on the Mahdlgupf via ferrata in Steinbach am Attersee: a 39-year-old from Wals-Siezenheim (Salzburg) and a 36-year-old from Hallein got on the via ferrata around 10 am. After about a third of the way, the 39-year-old heard a rock fall from above. When he saw him coming towards him, he turned away. But the head-sized stone hit him with full force on the left hip.
The alpinist managed to climb one of the key points, but then the pain became unbearable in an easier area around the center of the wall and he called 911. The 39-year-old and his girlfriend were rescued by the rescue helicopter with the rope.
brothers in need
The cause of an accident on the Schafberg was less spectacular, but the rescue was no less complex: two brothers from Bavaria, 58 and 61 years old, took the Schafbergbahn up the mountain and after a while on the mountain wanted to take the Purtschellersteig towards St. Wolfgang descends at the Wolfgangsee. The younger man fell to the slippery ground, sprained his ankle and seriously injured himself. The emergency helicopter took him to a hospital in Salzburg.
