A cigarette, more than a million euros in damage! Days after the devastating fire in Golling (Salzburg) the researchers have a hot trace! The house itself remains uninhabitable – at least until Easter, all residents have replacement quarters …
The researchers were working for days, inspected the fire location and secure traces. Now the experts are sure that the glowing axis of a cigarette has caused the devastating fire of a multi -party house in Golling. After a smoke break on the balcony, a resident had placed her cigarette button in a clay pot filled with the earth – shortly afterwards the disaster went his run. The woman initially refused every statement.
The fact is: within a few minutes the house was on Moartalstrasse in the night on Ash on Wednesday in the night – the “Kroon” reported. The fire quickly spread from the balcony on the top floor. A neighbor saw the fire, raised the alarm and called the residents from sleep. Six fire brigades moved and fought against the flames for hours with more than 100 men.
Despite their efforts, there were serious damage. The building is currently closed due to the risk of collapse, according to the first estimates the damage is more than a million euros. The renovation work will probably take almost a year. For the time being, 19 residents no longer have a roof over their heads. “It’s great, just incredible,” said resident Gertraud Schlager to the “krone”. Only in the coming days can the fire brigade victims look for their assets together in their apartments for the first time.
Community collects donations for fire brigade victims
The residential building of the municipal and real estate developer Salzburg tried to replace replacement quarters. “Until Easter, all residents in holiday apartments and private accommodations have a neighborhood,” says Mayor Martin Dietrich. Even after that, nobody would land on the street.
In the meantime you have set your own donation account. “The willingness to help us in the city is great,” says Dietrich.
