According to the police, a 54-year-old Dutchman drove at high speed on an Alpine road in the Zillertal in Tyrol late on Friday afternoon. The man suffered a serious fall. He had made an emergency stop for that.
Around 5 p.m., the man rode his e-bike along the Schlegeis Alpine Route in Mayrhofen towards the valley. It happened in a slight bend to the left: apparently the cyclist braked heavily to take the bend. However, that had bad consequences.
Cyclist crashed into a guardrail
The man fell and hit the guardrail with full force. Oncoming traffic provided first aid and called the emergency services. They had to fly the seriously injured Dutchman to the clinic in Innsbruck after the first treatment.
