Concerned residents from the border towns report dramatic scenes. The series of large-scale seizures continues unabated. A search is currently underway for a smuggler who is on the run.
Everything happened quickly at Deutschkreutz. Around lunchtime, patrol officers spotted a white van parked near a junction on the B62 heading towards the industrial area. Before the transport could be checked, 28 Syrians and two Turks jumped from the windowless cargo hold onto the street.
Documents thrown away
While reinforcements for the officers were already on their way, the police investigation focused mainly on the driver. He couldn’t identify himself. The German citizen (29) – born in Banjul, the capital of the West African state of Gambia – had thrown away his documents.
Tugboat breaks down
His official papers were found not far from the van. “I had a breakdown. The 30 men approached me to help me so that my van could move again. “I don’t know her at all,” the suspected smuggler claimed.
He’s just on vacation and doesn’t know where exactly he is. The smuggler said he just wanted to go back to his hotel in Budapest. The 29-year-old was arrested.
Larger transports
The smuggling mafia is expanding its contingents and is dependent on transports of at least thirty refugees. Forty migrants crossed the border early Friday morning and marched through Nikitsch. Another 30 refugees were arrested in Deutschkreutz in the afternoon. The police were looking for their escaped smuggler.
