In Vienna-Hernals, 120 children are in danger of closing their school. Many have special needs. Parents are shocked.
About 120 children visit the Vienna West Learning workshop in Hernals. About 40 percent of primary school students have a language disorder. Because of the common, inclusive lessons, their development has been considerably favored. This form of teaching has been around for several years. But now the project is threatening.
Parents informed in the short term
“We only found out a few days ago that our school would be closed. A functioning inclusion model is destroyed, the rights of children are ignored and the surrounding schools are also charged, ”says Stefanie Bramböck, a hit mother herself. But that is clearly planned. The building in Hernalser Hautenstraße is shared with the special school for physically disabled children.
“Due to the increasing need for school places for children and multi-handicapped children, it is necessary to build extra classes for them in the coming years,” says the educational directorate of the “Krone”. So the voice -decorated students have to move. They have to move to a facility in the 16th district. This solution also wants to cover the high need for lower school places in Ottakring.
Extreme uncertainties for children
Absolutely no option for the affected parents: “For children with these specific needs, a change of school is associated with extreme uncertainties and very difficult. You can’t just take them and sit somewhere else. The children are not only torn apart from their familiar environment, but also to the social environment.
