Finland remains the country with the happiest people in the world. This is followed by three more northern countries with Denmark, Iceland and Sweden. Austria fell from the 14th to 17th place.
The World Happiness Report is published every year by an interdisciplinary team of researchers around the Wellbbeng Research Center of the University of Oxford on the World Younger Day on March 20.
It provides an insight into how the satisfaction and observed quality of life of people around the world are.
The assessment of very different factors such as the economic performance of a country, health, the feeling of freedom, the generosity of people and the perception of corruption are included.
- Back in the top 5, the Netherlands is in fifth place, while Costa Rica (6) and Mexico (10) first get the top 10.
- Switzerland remains the happiest German -leaving country, but slides from nine to 13.
- Germany improves from the 24th to 22nd.
- The United States fall in 24th place in 24th place – the worst placement ever.
