Honorary citizenship away – In Braunau there are two “brown spots” less

Date:

At least two problems with Nazi lighting in Braunau have been a thing of the past since Wednesday evening. The majority of the city council decided to eliminate honorary citizenship for the Hitler location Josef Reiter and the Gauheimatpleger Eduard Krangechbaum. The Mauthausen committee and the network against right -wing extremism are not yet satisfied.

The historian and head of the Memorial Castle Hartheim, Florian Schwanninger, had investigated the role of namesake during the Nazi era on behalf of the city of Braunau.

Very problematic
He came to the conclusion that Josef Reiter (1862-1939), Eduard Krangechbaum (1887-1958) and Franz Resl (1883-1954) had to be classified as very problematically. For each of the three there is the same street or stairs in Braunau. Riders and Crawl Tree had also received honorary citizenship.

During the Braunau municipal council meeting on Wednesday evening, these honorary stocks were voted. Result: In both cases, the majority of the mandatars voted for a statement. At Josef Reiter the decision was taken unanimously, but in the case of Eduard Krangechbaum the FPö, while ÖVP, Spö and the Greens were closed.

“Discharge tactics”
However, the rename of the Braunau traffic areas or squares, for the riders, crawl tree and RESL, were still not coordinated on Wednesday. This causes a collective shaking of the head and an unlimited anti -fascists. “We therefore only regard the decision of the city council as the first phase to be followed,” says Mkö chairman Willy Mernyi. “This abduction tactics is an unworthy spectacle that is now finally terminated,” emphasizes Robert Eiter, spokesperson for the Antifa network.

Mernyi and Pus propose a rebuilding for female street protection because they are clearly under -represented as an namesake for public spaces.
