Revolution brought about civil engineering as a worm robot

Date:

They “print” houses, put bricks, plaster walls – and can soon wind through the ground to lay electric lines. Very specialized robots promise to bring about the construction sector and drastically reduce costs. Krone+ shows you the state of research – and reveals what building robots can do better than people.

Electric lines, glass fibers, pipes: there are many thousands of kilometers of infrastructure under our streets. However, there are challenges in recording all this lifeline: with conventional methods, the pollution of cables is a long -term and expensive process – that is why infrastructure operators often prefer to trust the above lines, which in turn hide their own risks. Tinkers of the Western Reserve University Case in the US state of Ohio now want to lower the costs of earth cables with a robot inspired by nature.
