After more than nine months – B33: Finally free travel through the Wachau again

Date:

“Real” Spring In The Wachau: After the huge rock trap on 3 June 2024, the Slot for Aggsteiner Strasse was lifted on Friday. The extensive work was considerably accelerated to be able to release the lifeline of the Wachau on time for the season.

After more than nine months of closed, AGGSTEINER STRAße was released for traffic at 9 a.m. after the enormous rock trap. Huge masses of stone and debris had to be removed and huge security measures had to be taken so that the road could now be released.

Street and cycle path Baanbaar everywhere
“We deliver faster than planned,” said Udo Landbauer Transport Councilor. Because after first predictions you even expect to block the road for more than a year. “Both the street and the corresponding cycle path will be passed on tomorrow. Half a lock with traffic light control is no longer necessary,” emphasizes Landbauer. Temporary limitations can only exist during the final asphalt work or the planned spray green.

Mass security measures
In the crash location, the six -high rope lock could be produced over a length of approximately 90 meters. The connecting areas North and South were secured with a so -called “rock & safe” technology and concrete guidelines to keep stones and smaller rocks off the road. For safety reasons for employees, the rock masses were removed from top to bottom. The majority of the work had to be done by hand – secured under extreme conditions on the rope in the rock wall.

Faster
Thanks to the high dedication of all those involved and the expansion of working hours at the weekend and public holidays, the project was able to complete much faster than planned: “Our efforts was worth it – we have inflamed the turbo and the traffic arteries can again for traffic rather than expected.

Bus line picks up the 24th disk
Public transport will also take on a normal effect on Monday 24 March. Bus line 720, which connects Krems via Roset Set and AGGSTEIN with milk, then runs again and on the usual route.
