Eleven Mountain rescuers from Krimml moved at around 9 p.m. to a recovery in Krimml. A 21-year-old German drove the Wildkarspitze (3073 m) in a steep, rocky channel on his late departure. “In this rough terrain, after several attempts to climb, he could not get any further because of his exhaustion,” says Franz Gensbichler, deputy. District manager in Pinzgau.
The German called. Eleven Krimmler Mountain rescuers came on foot and searched for the man in the partially icy and rocky terrain. “To get him out of the ditch, an extensive abseil campaign was also necessary,” said Matthias Hölzl.
The Krimmler Mountain rescuers eventually brought the tourist safely and unharmed to the valley. Two Alpine police officers and members of the Krimml Volunteer Fire Brigade were also deployed. The end of the end was around 2 o’clock in the morning.
