In the municipality of Eberstein in Carinthia, a car caught fire early on Sunday morning while driving. The driver tried to control the fire with snow. The FF Eberstein did that professionally.
On Sunday around 10.10 am, a 33-year-old man from St. Veit/Glan drove a car uphill on the municipal road St. Oswald in the direction of Saualm/Steinerhütte. Shortly after the town of St. Oswald in the municipality of Eberstein, he noticed a serious loss of power in the vehicle, so he parked the vehicle on the side of the road. After he noticed smoke on the bottom, he called the fire brigade. He used snow to keep the fire from spreading.
The FF Eberstein was eventually able to extinguish the fire at the bottom of the vehicle. The vehicle sustained unknown damage. The driver and his passenger were not injured. The Eberstein fire brigade was deployed with 20 men and women and two fire trucks. The municipal road was closed to all traffic for the duration of the firefighting operation – approximately 30 minutes.
