Parties for young people between the ages of 12 and 16 are becoming increasingly popular. While the “Youth Club” is already located in Graz, the celebration will be celebrated in Leibnitz from Friday with a pure conscience. The “Kroon” explains why parents don’t have to worry.
The subject of parties is rather interesting for young people. They want to dance to loud music and get to know new people – who don’t always like the parents. To cover the needs of the children accordingly, there has recently been a trend to so -called youth discos in Styria.
“These are targeted offers for young people between the ages of 12 and 17 who have the opportunity to dance and celebrate in a protected setting,” explains Florian Arlt, director of the styric umbrella organization of open youth work.
The preparatory work for the first event of this kind is currently underway in Leibnitz. On Friday, a “youth disco” will take place in the Marenzikeller for the first time: “The young people have looked into this and are already looking forward to it,” says Martha Ortner, employee of the Wave Youth Center.
Why are “youth discos” important?
The party in Leibnitz is completely free for everyone between 12 and 16 and completely free: “We want to show the children how to celebrate later that they feel safe,” says Ortner. The whole thing is of course without alcohol, in the sense of youth protection legislation only until 9 p.m. And by pedagogical specialists. In addition, there are also free workshops prior to the disco: a DJ course and a non-alcoholic cocktail mix session.
The events are important for children and adolescents in many ways: “With us, the partygoers have the opportunity to test limits and find limits and find out what is good when celebrating. The young people can virtually sniff and know how to deal with each other for the first time.
There are also regular “youth clubbings” in Graz. “The idea came from the young people themselves, who wanted to meet more spaces and events in a survey,” explains Nadine Aichholzer from the office for youth and family. The parties take place explosively in the youth center and, apart from the educational staff, are “adult” zones.
The young people are in the true sense of the word: “We have not been reported to now that we have inappropriate incidents,” says Arlt. Aichholzer also agrees: “We have never had an incident in which someone wanted to smuggle alcohol at the party. On the contrary, many young people give us feedback that this is cool that parties work without alcohol.”
