State, emaciated and completely afraid by bite injury: in September 2023, animal rights activists from the Freistadt Animal Welfare Center took over a mixed purebred dog. He was one of the 44 dogs who were in a basement in Ansfelden in small cages in their own droppings and only kept for one goal: illegal dog fights. The owner of the Bauernsacherl was sentenced to 24 months in prison in January 2024 and is again in general.
Dog was lucky
The life of the four -legged friend made a good turn. He is now called “Pauli” and lives with Tina Stegfellner (46) in Wartberg/Aist. “When I got it, he was just a skeleton with fur and ears,” says the 46-year-old. His muscles were reinforced with short walks and he slowly increased in weight.
Fear of Nailzwicker
“We first had to discover what and how much his stomach tolerates. We had hardly given too much, he had diarrhea again,” says Stegfellner. The four -legged friend of the nail that was Zwicker was particularly scared – it is probably comparable to that of the Stun gun with which the previous owner had mistreated the dogs.
Don’t be afraid of history
Stegfellner describes “Pauli” as a sun worshiper and her “Lucky Bear”. “He is on the tractor or the pasture with me. He always wants to break the cows.” Is she worried about the history of the dog? “No, because the other end of the belt is always important,” says the animal lover.
