Do without tours! – One meter fresh snow: Great Avalanche Risk in Tyrol

Date:

A late winter malaise on Monday causes a dramatic increase in the Avalanche hazard on the Tyrolean Mountains. Half a meter of fresh snow falls in sections. With the precipitation of recent days, a total of about a meter of fresh snow will be in certain areas.

The Tyrolean Avalanche Warning Service for Monday Warning Level 4 – Great Avalanche Danger – calls for the Northern Zillertal Alps, the Venice Group and Grandglockner Group above 2200 meters. Avaluues can spontaneously release and accept large dimensions.

Ries on the winter athletes
“We appeal to all winter sports enthusiasts to do without ski tours and variants in the affected areas. Especially away from secure slopes is very caution,” warns Safety Councilor Astrid Mair.

“Even individual winter athletes can cause avalanche of the Tyrolean Avalanche Warning Service in many places in the high mountains,” emphasizes Christoph Mitterer. “Extreme caution is therefore particularly important at high locations – the danger places are also very difficult to recognize for experienced because of the perspective and the fresh snow.”

Nordstauslage makes it snow
“Tyrol is located in the basin of a northern soulage,” says meteorologist Nikolas Zimmermann of the Ubimet Weather Service. The snow pushes on to the valleys, the snow edge is between 700 and 900 meters. For the Inn -Valley, however, the expert expects rain.

20 degrees from Thursday in Innsbruck
The rainfall will slow down on Tuesday and it will be sunny from Wednesday. Zimmermann: “On Thursday, 20 degrees are possible again in Innsbruck.”
