In Oost -Jerusalem and the West Bank, Palestinians protested against the war with a general strike. Shops, schools and most public administrations were closed on Monday.
A rally was planned in the center of the city of Ramallah, where the Palestinian authority is based. An alliance of Palestinian movements had called for the strike, including the hostile groups of Fatah and Hamas. It was protested against “the genocide and the constant massacre of our people”.
“I went through the city today and found no place that was open,” said Fadi Saadi, shopkeeper in Bethlehem. “Today we close our family in the Gaza Strip, our children in the Gaza Strip,” said 68-year-old Imad Salman, who has a souvenir shop in the old city of Jerusalem. “In Jerusalem, on the West Bank, we can’t do more than that.”
Another demonstrator said that the war is not only managed by the Israeli government, but also by the US. On March 18, the army of Israel resumed the air strikes on the Gaza Strip on March 18 after a ceasefish -the fire of almost two months. Since then, dozens of people have been killed every day.
Violence has also increased on the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war. 918 Palestinians were killed in the area, including militant hunters. On the Israeli side, 33 people died in the same period.
