A German couple had presented this excursion to Schlossbachklamm in the Tyrolean Zirl (Innsbruck-Land District). The two walkers came from the path and eventually not back in steep, sloping terrain.
In other words, two Mountain Rescuers from the Local site of Seefeld/Reith had also introduced their “excursion” with 26 children of the Zirler Alpine Club Youth in the Popular Gorge. “We wanted to practice climbing techniques with the children there,” says Florian Wieser. But nothing came of it.
Alarm in the late afternoon
Around 4.30 pm the message of the Tyrol control center came up that two people had climbed in Schlossbachklamm. “Together with my Mountain Rescue colleague Michael Winkler I took over,” says Wieser.
The mountain rescues were around a kilometer of the couple in an emergency, the two had rescue equipment with them, past the castle stream that they went to the Germans.
After 20 minutes with the raised
After about 20 minutes they had not reached the wounded pair. “The two wanted to go through the gap on a fairly popular tramble path next to the current, but at a certain moment had strayed off the path and came in a sandy, brittle rock channel,” says Wieser.
Woman was already panicking
The 53-year-old man was a bit above his 52-year-old companion in the very unpleasant site, both did not come back and forth. “The woman was quite panic because she was in a delicate area,” says the Mountain Rescuer.
The emergency services built a provisional rope and brought the Germans back to the path safely. Then they accompanied the duo back to Zirl.

In retrospect, the alarm process turned out to be strange. In his perilous situation, the 53-year-old did not really come to his mobile phone and opted for the emergency call through speech assignment. Of course: it did not land in the neighborhood, but in Nuremberg, 350 kilometers away. From there, the Tyrolean Police and then the Tyrol Control Center was informed.
