In 2021, shortly before Russia attacked the neighboring country of Ukraine, the Sukhoi Design Office presented a fifth generation of stealth-hunter-hunter-de SU-75-chequate stealth machine. As a cheap alternative to the F-35 from the United States, it was supposed to feed the export of Russian weapons and to increase for the first time in 2023. Two years later, the project is confronted with insurmountable obstacles: Krone+ reveals the background.
The SU-75 was marketed as a cheap alternative to advanced Western camouflage hunters such as the American F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II and focused on export markets, especially on countries that cannot afford expensive Western designs or that do not have too friendly relationships with the West and therefore have no possibility to buy. Aircraft are traditionally an important Russian export, recently the delivery of the older SU-35 model to Iran-a consideration for Iranian support with kamikazedrohnen in the attack war against Ukraine. Russia’s partner has to wait longer for modern jets.
