Tens of thousands of people have already paid a fee for the daily stay in Venice. This is five euros and owes 54 days a year. Now there is a protest for social media against the tourist reimbursement.
On Facebook, X and Instagram, groups of tourists ask not to pay the reimbursement. They also put fake codes on the internet. “It is unbelievable that there are people who are working against the city. This has been going on since last year. We have already filed a complaint with the public prosecutor,” said Michele Vuin’s budget officer.
The entrance fee for day visitors was introduced for the first time last year. The reimbursement of five euros is due from April 18 (Good Friday) to 4 May and from the second weekend in May to 27 July, from Friday to Sunday. This is the period in which most visitors are expected. Time is influenced from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
QR code on mobile phones
If you only book four days before the visit, you must pay a reimbursement of ten instead of five euros. After payment, the day that guests receive a QR code on the mobile phone that is needed for checks in Venice. The Lagoon City has so far earned more than 2.4 million euros with the entrance fee. 33,000 people have already registered on the portal.
Everyone who works or studies in Venice is excluded from the reimbursement. Hotel guests and children under the age of 14 do not have to pay anything.
