Bad Gastein – Three walkers could not get further in the snow

Three young women were no longer able to go up in the snow when relegation of the Palfnersee in Bad Gastein. They warned Mountain rescue around 4 p.m. Despite the strong hairdryer, the helicopter safely brought the three valley into the valley.

The three young walkers, all around 20 years old, were on their way to the Palfnersee (2074 meters) near De Graukogel in Bad Gastein on Wednesday. Already in the climb, the three Austrians had to tremble with sometimes deep snow. In the descent, women finally left strength and courage.

Around 1900 meters above sea level they no longer saw themselves the steep terrain and the snow. They were exhausted and soaked by the snow. It also blew strong Südföhn, head of operations Andreas Kandler of the Bad Gastein Mountain Rescue. The women did an emergency call around 4 p.m.

Mountain Rescue Appeals Urgently
The location of the Mountain Rescue was sent from the walkers via WhatsApp the GPS coordinates. The “Libelle” police helicopter was soon asked to save the trio quickly. The pilot was able to land despite the strong wind. The helicopter team picked up the women and flew them in the valley.

The Mountain Rescue starting power to make extensive touring plan for walks in the mountains. Especially now, in the spring, pay attention to the snow conditions. Hiking trails and oxen are often still covered with snow, making it difficult to find the way, especially because the floor markings cannot be seen. There are still pronounced snow fields at the higher locations of the Hohen Tauern.
