The Basque government today approved in the Governing Council a aid program, endowed with 20 million non-refundable grants (called BULTZATU), to help Basque companies affected by the war in Ukraine and by the end of this month it will plan also an initiative to support gas consumers.
The goal, according to the Ministry of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, is to provide immediate liquidity to cope with the increase in additional costs, possible losses and the consequences of the war.
The program targets both large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Basque Country affected by the Russian military invasion and/or by the consequences of the imposed economic sanctions, belonging to the industrial sector and related services linked to the industrial process product.
The order is in effect until September 30, or until the budget is exhausted. The amount of aid can be up to 50% of the increase in eligible costs (raw materials and transport) and the costs of orders placed and invoices issued for finished products and in progress that cannot reach their destination and/or that have been cancelled. The aid limit will not exceed the maximum amount of EUR 400,000 per company.
Faced with the disruption of the economy across Europe and in Euskadi as a result of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the Basque government has indicated that it considers it essential to try to minimize the impact of the sharp rise in the cost of raw materials and transport .
Likewise, the aim is to help absorb all possible and potential losses resulting from interrupted orders, suffered by companies to help and safeguard the competitiveness of Basque companies in the face of the current crisis.
