Clear excitement in Wolfsberg: an unknown perpetrator would have shot with a shotgun in the local administration of St. Margarethen, the waves go on social media. But the case has a catch.
“Are there already rednecks in the Lavanttal?”, “Apparently every place really needs to be checked” and “just sad, don’t understand why you absolutely have to damage foreign property”-all three of the many Facebook comments among the photos of the Shot Local Board of St. Margarethen.
She published the municipality of Wolfsberg on the social medium – with instructions that “various local authorities have already been stolen in our municipal area this year”. A residents had ‘drawn attention to a different border crossing: on the local sign at the end of Weißenbach in St. Margarethen apparently was shot with a shotgun, the post continues.
“We are not in Chicago”
Of course this message caused excitement: nobody wants to be shot in public, Facebook users ask for a “juicy punishment with weapon ban and withdrawal of weapons”. The director sees it in the same way: “If the police do not like it when weapons are shot on local boards. We are not in Chicago,” says Erich Darmann, police commander inspection of Wolfsberg.
“The municipality’s complaint was received on Friday,” he confirms. However, there has been a lot lately: “The case has been three years old! That has already happened in 2022”, clarifies Darmmann, who is irritated by uncontrolled messages on the internet: “Sometimes they are fake news, sometimes old photos are dug up or things are more often posted for unnecessary uncertainty and extra efforts for the police, who nevertheless have their hands.
In this case it is lucky that it is a local board: “It was easy and fast to classify it quickly.” Otherwise the work is more intense and more complex. However, there is no new insights: “Of course we show this to the public prosecutor. And even when the shots are old: of course this does not work that someone in the municipal area treats a weapon.”
“Strictly forbidden around”
The municipality of Wolfsberg also warns: “Apart from the fact that handling with weapons and shooting in the local environment is strictly forbidden and is a serious danger to people and animals, the damage caused by such intentional destruction or thefts is now more than a few thousand euros.” In the meantime, the Facebook message has been adjusted and also points out that they are three-year-old recordings (see above)-On Thursday it was also called to report information to the police.
There it is explained: “No cartridges were found in the study in 2022, and the perpetrator is also unknown. We cannot say whether the foreign national has used a shotgun or a pump gun. At least there is something weak, there is no shot,” says Darmann.
“Because it is a state road, the municipality was not involved in 2022 – so the case was not known to us,” Vice mayor Alexander Radl said the “krone”: “In belief that it is about a current case, the photos were published by the City Press on Facebook.”
“Shooting a weapon with a weapon – you can only talk about stupidity,” says Radl, who now wants to exchanged the local table: “That costs a few hundred euros again. In the past year alone, seven or eight local boards in Wolfsberg were stolen!
If the perpetrator is still found, he must “expect the consequences of the consequences,” it says: “If the perpetrators suffer from boredom, we recommend that we would rather be thrown away carelessly instead of damaging public goods or to jeopardize his own beings.”
