Due to alternative traffic – the travel prohibitions start in Tyrol

In the coming months, travelers’ tissues can be again expected on many Tyrolean roads. So that drivers do not also hide the side streets in traffic jams, a number of driving bans are getting into force again from Good Friday.

The travel time, especially during the weekend in countless Tyrolean streets, brings a huge volume of traffic along the most important travel routes. This causes traffic jams. These are often tried to bypass by travelers. So that traffic and delivery protection in the surrounding cities are guaranteed, the country has again issued the summer bans this year.

First forbidden of Good Friday
The districts of Imst, Innsbruck-Land, Innsbruck-Stadt, Kufstein and Reutte are being hit. On Good Friday, the first riding bans come into force on selected state and municipal roads in the districts of Innsbruck-Stadt and Innsbruck-Land. They start on 1 May in the Reutte, Imst and Kufstein districts. The riding bans apply until November 2, 2025 on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

State of Transport René Zumtobel and LH Anton Mattle Weisen with a view to the winter balance for the importance of these driving bans. Almost 250,000 vehicles have been rejected during checks in recent months. The governor speaks of an emergency measure “to guarantee safety in our Tyrolean communities, to reduce traffic loads from the villages and to improve the quality of life of our citizens”.

Control costs a lot of money
Compliance with the driving bans will still be checked by the police and the state of Tyrol. The use of the control agencies costs the country around half a million euros. That is twice as much as in the previous year.
