Rare theft – Cheeky e-car driver pulls electricity from the light pole

Date:

Unfortunately, thefts also take place every day in Austria. The crimes often involve theft of jewellery, money or clothing. But on Thursday, a driver of an e-car in the Frunpark car park near Linz once again proved that electricity has become a valuable commodity due to rising costs. Completely brazen, the stranger tapped power for his car at a light pole. The “electricity thief” received a warning from the mall.

The driver’s license plate number was noted, the mall warned. “We warn you about electricity theft,” the windshield read. Angry at the brutal car owner, the shopping center in Asten threatened to report theft if it happened again.

The creative idea of the e-car driver cannot be surpassed. A Krone reader-reporter must have thought the same thing when she saw the parked vehicle hanging from the lantern and immediately snapped a picture of it. The question of whether the driver of the car is aware that lanterns do not serve as a charging station, of course, remains open. The warning from the Frunpark must have reminded him of that – before he fled again with a fully charged battery.
