Bergen Open – After 2500 working hours the winter lock is over

Date:

After weeks of snow and rock statement, the winter lock on the Hahntennjoch could be lifted again. The Spectacular Pass Road, which connects the Tyrolean Districts Imst and Reutte, was released for traffic on Friday afternoon. Finally, 2500 working hours were needed.

15 employees, an excavator, two -wheeled chargers, a wipe machine and three trucks have been used in the past one and a half months to make Hahntennjochstrasse (L246) safely accessible again after the winter. Since Friday afternoon, noon, the Passweg between the Inn Valley and the Lech Valley is open again.

Low -Snow Winter, earlier opening
The approval took place much earlier this year than in previous years. The winter with low ditch made it possible. In the previous year, for example, the Mountain Pass could only be opened in the middle.

“Security has a top priority”
Year after year it is emphasized in the spring to make Hahntennjochstrasse accessible as quickly as possible. “Safety is a top priority. Only when the Avalanche Commission gives the green light that the work begins,” says the responsible substitute governor Josef Geisler (ÖVP).

A challenge year after year
Even if the snow situation was below the average this winter, there was plenty to do for people and machines, such as Hartmut Nerauter of the responsible road maintenance department Zams describes: “Large weapons were raised again and, among other things, removed from the road with the help of a maximum of two meters.”

Two weeks ago there was still struggling with avalanches – and there had to be extensive rock security work. Now there is again “free travel” – to late autumn, before Snowfall than the next winter lock.
