Animal dramas on domestic farms continue to shake the audience. It is usually a mixture of loneliness and excessive demands of farmers who lead to four -legged friends being neglected. There is help in emergency situations.
Purified, with deformed hooves, which are in your own droppings- so 28 horses were found in a courtyard in the Freistadt district in the past week. The owners were overwhelmed. In June 2024, a similar case caused a sensation in the Salzkammergut. Fully neglected cows and calves were found in a courtyard, many had to be killed. But why are there always such dramatic cases?
A dangerous mixture
“Usually it is a kind of overwhelming that leads to such situations. Unfortunately, those who are affected than find it difficult or have no time to seek help,” says Michael Wöckinger, head of livestock in the Oö room of agriculture. There is help for such situations. Quality of Life Farm is called the facility of the LWK, which is on site with advice and action. “Those who have affected themselves do not report to us, they are more family members or acquaintances,” says consultant Maria Mühlböck.
Overwhelming often a taboo
Because overwhelming is still a taboo subject in the farmer. “The pressure is great in the social structure of the farmers.” It is difficult to admit that you need help, “says Mühlböck for the difficulties.
But in addition to the classic generation conflict, the farm transfer, the overwhelming one of the top topics is in consultation. “People often work for a long time, but then something else comes than a care shop – and then there is an overwhelming,” said Mühlböck. If it affects a company with animal husbandry, then it is the four -legged friends who are ultimately the victims.
Michael Wöckinger appeals to the neighbors. “Of course nobody wants to cancel, but the village community is also required if there is a risk,” he says.
